After the dramatics at the end of my last post, you'd think things would improve right? You'll see.
Towards the end of march, we finally got to the end of the line with clear blue tests, we got the 3+ the wife was waiting to get...
Nothing much exciting happened, here's the 6 week photo.
As soon as the 6th week hit, that was it, morning sickness galore. We started seeing something was wrong with the wife when everything she drank or ate was coming straight back up again. So after a trip to the drs we got sent up to the hospital as she had far too many ketones in her urine.. not cool.
Here is a picture of us taking hospital protocol seriously in the lift.
When the wife first arrived, literally breathing set her off to be sick.
Let me just tell you, some maternity units haven't caught up with the whole 'equality and diversity', Royal Berks are no exception. We had a lovely midwife to start with. Then for the rest of the stay we had a grumpy mumbly midwife who came across as she thought her job is a bit of a chore. Also thought I was just the wifes 'friend' and a him. I am not a butch lesbian by any means, and you can clearly see I'm female. The wife has got into the habit of introducing me as her wife now (yes there's been more than 1 hospital visit).
So the ol' rude lady had to use the wife as a dart board.
Also Don't be disheartened by when they ask you questions in the maternity unit. They are obviously asking for medical history of the mother and 'father' for future reference. But you'd think they'd ask those questions on a case by case basis, and use the word 'sperm donor' but you know. Who am I to interfere. Its only my feelings.
So after like 3 anti sickness injections and 2 massive IV bags, we finally left. We left with a diagnosis of Hyperemesis Gravidarum (extreme morning sickness, Kate Middleton had it with all 3 of her pregnancies) and anti sickness medication to take.
It's at this point I'm glad we have opted to have our baby at Basingstoke hospital.
